Artsmark is the creative quality standard for schools and education settings, awarded by Arts Council England, recognising their commitment to high quality arts and cultural education.

JumpStart Dance is proud to be supporting schools and education settings on their Artsmark journey, inspiring children and young people to create, experience, and participate in great arts and culture.

We offer education settings who are working towards, or currently hold an Artsmark Award, with the following opportunities:

Regular Dance Activity

Provide high quality dance teaching as part of your PE or art offer at your school.  We deliver morning / afternoon sessions on a regular basis, lasting a half or whole term, that improve physical literacy, social skills, confidence and overall wellbeing.

Teacher CPD

Half day, whole day or twilight teacher training, focusing on how to deliver dance that is relevant and accessible to today’s children.  Each event includes opportunities to create planning materials focused on your curriculum.  All delegates receive a ‘Dance Class in a Box’ resource pack that contains lesson plans, music suggestions and relevant warm ups / cool downs.  Open to all – no dance experience necessary.

One-day experiences

Workshops that launch a ‘stunning start’, celebrate a special occasion or explore a curriculum topic.  Host up to 7 exciting and inspiring sessions in one day, which could culminate in a whole school performance.

Arts Award

Complete the Arts Award at Discover or Explore level with one of our qualified assessors.  Add this qualification on to a regular dance activity or a special experience event, where children can complete ‘Discover in a Day’.

JumpStart events link directly to the PE curriculum, as well as to the wider class curriculum and are open to all ages from EYFS through to Year 6.  Example topics include…

  • Cultural Dance
  • People Who Help Us
  • The Victorians
  • World War II
  • Roald Dahl / Julia Donaldson
  • Celebrations
  • Extreme Earth

All dance activities provide opportunity for children to learn technique, perform and appreciate, as well as develop creativity through improvisation and choreography.  Our workshops are positive, inclusive and inspire boys (as well as girls) to enjoy dance.
